The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style). This markets the artist it links the motifs with them and ensures that they are remembered by the audience.

Coldplay's music video falls in this particular category, it uses subtle editing with the background changing from night to day and pull out from ariel shot. Eminem is another good example who features similarly in all his music videos. His videos are always comical, features controversy or the artist appears as a particular character.
