Evaluation Of Practical Task

For the practical task I recreated the Britney Spears music video as you can see below, we took sections of the video as a class and worked in groups to recreate our particular section. The recreated sections have been merged together and the video is embedded below, my groups section is 0:00-0:30.

In the process of creating this remake of Britney Spears video I used different camera shots whilst trying to mirror the ones used in the Britney video, I was able to see which shots were more effective than other ones. I learnt about handling the camera and using the tripod when needed, so I am now familiar with how the camera works and how to use the different controls correctly. The tripod was used to film steadily and used to shoot most of the video. I also learnt how to use imovie on the mac computers, I was able to experiment with the selection of editing controls available and saw which ones worked more than others.

I learnt about the practicalities of making a music video through time management, lip syncing and group working skills. Being aware of time is key and ensuring that you set particular deadlines throughout and meeting those set deadlines efficiently. Lip syncing was slightly difficult when constructing the clip, to make this easier we played the song when actually filming to make lip syncing during editing precise and made the artist actually sing the song instead of just mouthing the lyrics. When working in groups it was important to work with people that we all believed we could actually work with, I saw particular groups that didn't work which meant it affected their end task. In our group we gave each person a specific role to transmit and construct the music video effectively.

Filming for the music video was enjoyable, it gave me an understanding of how much footage was needed and how much it actually used when editing. Lip syncing was challenging during the editing process, we spent a long time ensuring the lip syncing was precise. As I was not familiar with the software it was slightly difficult at first. When creating my own music video I would like to make sure that camera angles and shots I use are creative and different.
